"Loop" Ring Exhibition at The Biscuit Factory

Loop is the New Exhibition launched on the 4th March at The Biscuit Factory as part of their Spring Exhibition. Loop is a showcase of spectacular rings by 16 leading contemporary jewellers, and I was thrilled to be a part of it!

LOOP @The Biscuit Factory Newcastle

"From designs that are simple and minimal, to more elaborate statement pieces - the collection will be a stunning range for lovers of rings. Set apart from our usual jewellery collection, the designs will be presented in the gallery as miniature artworks."

Alongside LOOP, The Biscuit Factory’s spring show also includes a diverse collection of contemporary paintings, prints, glass, sculpture and textiles, headlined by 2014 BP Portrait Award second prize winner, Richard Twose.

Gallery Curator, Lauren Baker, comments: “As jewellery curator, I am surrounded by some of the most creative and utterly wonderful jewellery the UK has to offer. While making plans for this year’s exhibitions, the uniting theme for many of the makers I approached was clear - they were all responsible for some exceptional rings; I wanted them all!

This giant Swarovski ring is one of my latest pieces, which is included in the exhibition on until 31st of May 2016

Unique resin, marble & sterling silver ring at Craft & Culture

These two new resin and silver rings have recently arrived in Seattle's Craft & Culture. I designed and made them around some of my own collection of glass marbles. I love their perfect shape and lustrous colour. To contrast these glass orbs in texture and colour I chose to work in  an angular bright blue with flecks of orange to sculpt these one-of-a-kind rings.

Here are more details on these pieces at craft & Culture

Knuckle down To put one knuckle of your shooting hand in contact with the ground. Most players put the knuckle of their index finger on the ground. You position your shooter in the crook of the index finger and flick it out with your thumb.

Lagging A way of choosing who shoots first. Players roll their marbles toward a line in the dirt (the lag line). Whoever gets closest without going over gets to shoot first.

Mibs The target marbles in a game. Another name is Kimmies.

Playing for fair All marbles are returned to owner after the game.

Plunking Hitting the targets on the fly.

Taw Another name for a shooter. Shooters are often slightly larger than target marbles. In some games you shoot from behind a taw line.

PLAYING FOR KEEPS THE WINNER KEEPS ALL THE MARBLES AFTER THE GAME ("WINNER KEEPS, LOSER WEEPS").

Five Fool's Gold Rings

To celebrate this fabulous festive time of year, I have a special collection of rings available at Craft and Culture. In the spirit of the season they inspired by the traditional Yuletide Carol: The 12 Days of Christmas "and a Partridge in a Pear Tree..."

Five Gold Rings

Fool's Gold to be exact! Only one of each design, featuring a different formation of pyrite and hand sculpted to bring out the best in each: from big & rugged, to polished perfection.

Each of these original pieces has been hand made to be a special gift for a unique person, perfect to wear whilst clutching a glass of champagne to see in the New Year 2014. Architectural shapes and mineral specimens in black and gold give a flash of cool metallic for an all year round special sparkle even when the Christmas jumpers and sequinned ensembles are mothballed until next winter.
